World’s first standard bending robot

World’s first standard bending robot

ROBOBEND presents a bending robot with a simple hardware and control system solution, which is completely operated by an integrated intelligent system.

The solution

RoBoend is the world’s first stand bending robot. It is very easy to program and use even for clients with smaller batch orders/requires production flexibility. Simple DxF drawings are converted into bending/robot programs, an electrical communication device secures easy setup between the robot and any of the existing press brakes in the market, smart devices like angle measuring device, smart fingers, piece separator and more ensures high production quality every time and then it is mobile and combined manual and robot production is possible at the same press brake. The RoboBend robot secures high quality bending, constant flow on existing machines and is a strong business case also for SME’s without prior robot experience.

Challenge

The sheet metal industry is facing challenge with lack of machine operators. Actual metal machinery workers are among the Top-3 occupational groups in Europe with a growing number of job openings that are not filled, meaning that 2 million metal machinery workers will be needed in the EU by 2025. It is dangerous, repetitive work – but still requires technical skills to perform. But no standard, easy to install and use solution was available as an alternative to manual operators at the machines.

Impact

In the global sheet, metal industry operates approximately 1.5 million press brakes that most of them potentially could be automated with the use of a RoboBend robot. Being the first mover in developing and bringing to the market a standard and easy to use robot RoboBend becomes the reference point as many more sectors use relatively standard machines which could be automated and make the companies more competitive and remove the capacity barrier. The press brake automation market alone is a +100 Billion Euro market and if including many other standard machines to be automated, this will be a lot higher.
