Vision guided deburring of welded seams

Vision guided deburring of welded seams

VisDeburr demonstration will illustrate the power of visual-guided deburring: measuring the location and size of the welding seams which remarkably improves the quality of grinding and makes it much more flexible.

The solution

A solution to adapt differences in the welding seams is to measure and analyse them and plan cleaning for robot reactively.

Challenge

Cleaning of welding seams is challenging due to variating dimensions: each seam is different. Therefore cleaning them automatically is a difficult task as conventional automation cannot react to variations of the parts.

Impact

Currently the solution for cleaning of welding seams is done by humans. However, it is a heady and dirty task and it’s almost impossible to find workers to do this.
However, when doing this task automatically, the quality is always the same.

  • Project results
Vision-guided deburring was piloted with our products, and it could be a useful technology for that. Our lot sizes are small, and there are always small deviations in the dimensions of the parts including requirements for surface quality which is high. Current solutions in the market doesn’t meet our requirements but this could do that.
