MYW.AI Box: Edge Intelligence for Robotics

MYW.AI Box: Edge Intelligence for Robotics

The project's objective is to establish an effective CBM solution for robotics that will prevent any false detections, integrate sensors for voice command and distribute supply chain certification. MYWAI for Robotics"pilot  was a preliminary  project out of Open Call 1 which contributed algorythms to the Open Call 2 winning project RAISE (Robots as an Intelligent Services Ecosystem).

The solution

The MYWAI-4-ROBOTICS project developed a novel CBM solution for robotic arms integrating Natural Language Processing (NLP) for voice driven control, Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for preventive anomaly detection, and an innovative Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) for pre- and post-sale supply chain certification. All these features are necessary for a CBM solution to be easy to interact with, effective and trustworthy.

Challenge

Robotic arms/manipulators are used for precise positioning of manufactured parts during transfer to the following process step. These robots have numerous joints with rotational axis for wide movement and positioning flexibility. Due to complicated design and implementation in fully automated processes, these mustbe well maintained and monitored mainly for early risk of fault analysis. In order to both optimise the performances of robot arms and reduce as much as possible the downtime, proper preventive (condition based)/predictive maintenancestrategies need to be put in place.

Impact

The solution targeted by the MYWAI-4-ROBOTICS project is expected to significantly improve the industrial robots’maintenance process and therefore a strong impact on both the AI-based edge computing as well as the overall manufacturing sector is foreseen. Themarket penetration will be mainly possible through commercial agreements with robotic arms producers.
